About Me (Bio): Ian Ramsay-Connell has over 30 years experience in Control and Safety systems over a range of industry sectors and in a range of capacities. He is actively involved with organisations providing services and documents to support good practices in safety and control. He is currently the Chief Technical Officer for Yokogawa Middle East based in Bahrain.
Previously he was a consultant in Automation and Safety covering Integrated System Design and Safety Substantiation to IEC-61508 and IEC-61511 and promoting the adoption of State Design for process safety systems. Prior to that he provided solutions for Integrated Automation and Safety Systems. He has experience both in technical and management environments. Applications knowledge includes Control, Emergency Shut Down, Process Shutdown, Blow Down, HIPPS, Explosion Containment, High Integrity Interlocking, SCADA, MIS, Asset Management and Alarm Management. Has been a key initiator, promoter and designer of a number of concepts which are now standard practice, such as Subsea HIPPS systems.
