About Me (Bio): Mr Ian Hitchen. BA (Hons.), C.Eng., MIET has over 30 years experience as an 'end user' fully responsible for Measurement & Control and Safety Instrumented systems - design standards - implementation and maintenance at a top tier COMAH site, which involved reviewing existing 'trip' systems against the requirements of 61508/61511.
Since joining Rowan House he has used this experience to assist many companies to review their legacy systems specifically in the aspects of managing and implementing proof testing, non conformance reporting and management of change procedures.
Additionally he has run several workshops covering all aspects of BS EN IEC 61511.
He has been a member of several groups involved with 'rolling out' the requirements of BS EN 61508. Ian was also involved with the group commissioned by the HSE to provide guidance for use by HSE inspectors on good practice for managing and carrying out SIF proof testing specifically for reviewing legacy systems.
He is a member of the 61508 Association team producing guidance on 'Legacy Systems Review and Management Guidelines'.
