About Me (Bio): Dr. Lawrence Beckman, who received his BS and PhD degrees from Tulane University in Chemical Engineering, is President of SafePlex Systems, Inc. in Houston, Texas. Previously he worked at Monsanto Chemical, IBM, TANO, Texas Instruments, and was Vice President of Marketing at Triconex, responsible for worldwide corporate strategy and product development. Dr. Beckman has published numerous papers on process safety, simulation, and control; and is a senior member of the ISA, NFPA and AIChE. He is a voting member of the ISA SP84 safety committee, a registered professional engineer in LA, a TUV certified Functional Safety Expert (116/06) and instructor, and has conducted corporate seminars on process safety and protective systems in the U.S.A., Canada, and South and Central America.
